Paul Does Not Shame Abandoned Spouses

But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

Busy today putting on the final touches to my sermon that I will be delivering to services tomorrow morning. Just want to leave a nugget of truth and a piece of encouragement here from my sermon preparation–a teaser–

Paul does not shame or blame a Christian spouse for being abandoned by an unbeliever.

&

Paul does not launch into moral teaching for the abandoned Christian spouse as if he or she was morally flawed to have experienced such abandonment.

I suggest we follow Scripture and the Apostle Paul’s example. Abandoned spouses ought not to be shamed or blamed as if their moral failings led to the abandonment.

That just isn’t Biblical.

Nor is it loving.
