Bar hopping without you
Cheating starts in the heart (see Mark 7:21-23). This is what we know from Jesus’ own teaching on sin.
Before the illicit kisses and sex, some cheaters may have engaged in behavior best described as “single” behavior. They went to the bars and welcomed the attention of the opposite sex (if heterosexual).
In other words, they played with fire until finally they burned their marriage to the ground with the flames of infidelity!
Bar hopping without you was their way to “unwind.” What might have even started innocent eventually turned dark as what was already in their hearts was revealed by their actions.
Opportunity met with desire, and sin was consummated.
A wise person does not play with fire. Similarly, someone guarding their marriage does not set themselves up in circumstances where cheating is easier than keeping their marriage vows.
