DM on Vacation

Divorce Minister is on vacation this week enjoying some quiet time on a lake. Posts will be more “spotty” this week due to my vacation and wifi access (or lack thereof). I hope to continue posting, but it may be more irregular than usual July 8th through July 14th. We all need breaks after all!

What Ephesians 5:24 does NOT say!

Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. -Ephesians 5:24, NIV What Ephesians 5:24 does NOT say! I did a post on a verse used against husbands (see here). This one is for the ladies–i.e. the faithful wives. Notice this verse and surrounding passage NEVER mentions divorce. Not … Continue reading “What Ephesians 5:24 does NOT say!”

Willow Creek Church Leadership Puts Out ANOTHER Statement Re:Bill Hybels

Willow Creek Church leadership put out a statement this past weekend “repenting” for the way they handled the accusations regarding Bill Hybels. I put “repenting” in scare quotes because certain parts of that statement come across as reluctant as opposed to eager repentance. Parts strike me more as a Public Relations (PR) begrudging move than … Continue reading “Willow Creek Church Leadership Puts Out ANOTHER Statement Re:Bill Hybels”

Meanings Without Moorings

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! – Isaiah 5:20, KJV Private Definitions of Cheaters I can remember my undergraduate philosophy professor telling us on multiple occasions how to deal with difficult argument situations. … Continue reading “Meanings Without Moorings”

What a faithful spouse needs are clear heads. What a faithful spouse does NOT need is someone feeding their disbelief over the cheating. An … Continue reading “Maddening Disbelief of Others”

Christian Leaders, All sins are not equal!

And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. – Leviticus 20:10, KJV Not all sins in a marriage are acceptable to God as worthy of ending a marriage (e.g. Mt 5:32). Not all … Continue reading “Christian Leaders, All sins are not equal!”

Validation, What a gift!

Whether it is validation through evidence or validation from another human being who sees the real injustice and names it as such, validation is a precious gift. I truly believe such validation is necessary for healing from adultery and abandonment. We need to be seen. Our pain needs to matter to someone, which includes ourselves. … Continue reading “Validation, What a gift!”

A biblical warning to “neutral” observers

6 Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins [sexual immorality, impurity, and greed], for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him. 7 Don’t participate in the things these people do. -Ephesians 5:6-7, NLT How many people allow themselves to be fooled by cheaters and their “justifications”? Now, I am not … Continue reading “A biblical warning to “neutral” observers”
