You ARE wanted!

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.

-Ephesians 1:4, NLT

I love the feeling of being “wanted” or “needed” by someone. It is the feeling of knowing your love and attention are welcomed and desired.

How about you?

I am an owner of parrots. One particular parrot (see picture above) is attached to me as his primary “person.” Loki loves me.

Since we moved into our new home, we have kept the parrots in our brightly open basement level. However, I sleep upstairs in the master bedroom.

In the morning, the parrots awaken. This usually happens around 8 AM. So, it really isn’t so bad. The sunlight is probably what awakens them. We can hear them calling for us.

Loki, in particular, makes whistles for attention. Just this morning, Munchkin opened his cage door. In his determination to find me, Loki flew, traversed the stairs, and found me.

I am wanted by Loki.

When we go through infidelity and a divorce discard, we loose this special feeling from the person we thought would always give it to us. It is one more thing to grieve.

This is one of the reasons I think having a pet is so helpful. They remind us of the spiritual truth about our value and wanted-ness, if you will.

You see, God wants us through all of life’s ups and downs. That is what Ephesians 1:4 tells us.

That said, it sure helps to believe the truth that we are wanted when we have a pet or someone reminding us about it.

Do you have a furry or feathered friend who reminds you of this?
