A reminder from Psalm 118

Let those who fear the Lord say:

“His love endures forever.”

The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.

What can mere mortals do to me?

-Psalm 118:4, 6, NIV

When I consider these words from Psalm 118, I am struck by how the author bases his claim on God’s help with an unwavering faith in God’s love for him.

Trusting that God loves us is the starting point. And sometimes, like in this Psalm, believing this is an exercise of faith.

God’s love DOES endure forever.

The Enemy wants you to believe otherwise. His lies includes lies about you being unlovable and not loved by anyone.

But those are LIES!

God’s love for you endures forever. You may not feel this love presently with all the trauma, pain, and grief you are experiencing. But it is there.

God has not removed His love from you just because your spouse decided to reject and violate you!

God’s love is not fickle. It is a rock you can count on when the world is spinning out of control. I know because it was to that Rock I clung during my spinning-world experience.

Trust God. Lean into His love. And reject the lies. You have and will always be loved.

  1. Jesus, Himself, was familiar with rejection and God was deeply pleased with Him! (Isaiah 53:3, Matthew 3:17, Matthew 17:5).
