“I’m so unhappy,” cries Cheater.
You do not control how someone thinks or thereby feels.
When Cheaters whine about not feeling happy, you can be sure that they are blaming their spouse. The affair is treated as an entitlement because they believe (falsely) they are entitled to whatever makes them “happy.”
Happiness is an inside job.
Caring people want other people to be happy. Sometimes we take this to an extreme and act as if we are responsible for something we do not ultimately control–i.e. another person’s reactions.
This is a hard lesson to learn:
I ONLY CONTROL ME!
Do not buy Cheaters talking about how you are the reason that they cheated over their “unhappiness” in the marriage. There are plenty of adult-level actions to address unhappiness that do not include adultery–i.e. soul rape.
It is not on you to take responsibility for their emotions. Adults take responsibility for their own emotions and address them in respectful ways as opposed to destructive ways. Cheaters need to grow up!
