Faith is choosing to praise God when He feels distant

…God has said,

“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

-Hebrews 13:5b, NIV

When faced with the trauma of discovering your cheater, you are faced with a spiritual choice:

Will I choose to believe God’s promise to me or look at this with natural eyes believing the lie that God has already forsaken me?

Satan wants you to choose the later. He wants you to attribute all this evil to God. This is his opportunity to drive a wedge between you and your Good Father who actually loves you. Will you let him?

I chose to cling closer to my God during the discovery of my cheater. It is my faith in Jesus and His interventions in my life that preserved it. Of this, I am absolutely convinced.

God did not forsake me.

That said, I want to encourage you that it is okay to feel forsaken. God is big enough to hear our pain. He can take it when we cry to Him that we feel forsaken in this moment.

Crying out to God is an act of faith, after all. You are believing He exists and holds to His promises by telling Him how you feel. That is a good thing.

To close, I will leave you with a song to encourage you in this. It is a new song called “Protector” by Kim Walker-Smith:
