Infidelity abuse is rarely the only abuse faithful spouses endure from their cheaters. Financial abuse usually is present in these situations as well.

Some cheaters leverage their financial power to inflict harm upon their partners. This might come in the form of cutting them off from money needed to cover basic bills, and it might take the form of using marital assets to spend on their affair partners.

This dynamic makes an already difficult time more difficult.

The faithful spouse who relied upon the income of the cheater to live finds themselves reeling from the infidelity betrayals and now has to figure out a way to survive without that financial support.

It is scary!

(Obviously, I encourage faithful spouses to find a lawyer as soon as possible in these situations to ensure they are not robbed by their cheater and can live.)*

Cheaters only look out for themselves. This basic selfishness is what is at the heart of their cheating. They may feel entitled to far more than they actually are entitled to have.

It is frustrating and scary dealing with these characters who make up their own rules. This is why the legal system needs to get involved. You do not want to be at the mercy of your abuser’s “good will.”
