Happy Easter, Faithful Spouses!

…but the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body.”

-Mark 16:6, NLT

Resurrection Sunday.

I am sure many of us have heard stories about God doing the impossible on Resurrection Sunday. What is often left out is how the impossible was unexpected here.

The Scripture talks about how stunned the women were about discovering the empty tomb. All the hints Jesus dropped did not stop them from the surreal moment of shock.

I say this to correct a temptation we might have to think we will get a resurrected marriage necessarily.

God often does the unexpected.

Our idea of what the miracle is suppose to be is often wrong in my experience. Today, I am grateful He did NOT resurrect my first marriage as that would have meant missing out on Mrs. DM and Munchkin plus all that goes with them.

Instead of fixating on an outcome, I would encourage you to remember we serve a good God who works good for our lives. Place our hope in a person–namely, Jesus–not an outcome. THAT hope won’t disappoint!
