I sold the bedroom furniture.

“… Steve ‘sterilized’ his house, repainting inside and out, laying new carpets, hanging new pictures on the walls and buying new furniture. Others have burned photographs, thrown away clothes, and smashed personal belongings.”

-Michael Fox, Ph.D., The Emotional Rape Syndrome, pp 22.

I sold the bedroom furniture.

Before I moved halfway across the country, I decided to sell the bedroom furniture. I had just discovered the Other Man.

Practically, I did not want to have to haul that furniture cross country.

Emotionally, I did not want the reminders such furniture would give me.

So, I sold the furniture.

I am glad I did. It was part of my first step towards a new beginning. I was clearing the deck.

Did you do some cleansing ritual? Sell off your bedroom furniture? Repaint the house or bedroom?

Such actions can help in taking steps forward.* They can be a move towards healing, in my opinion. It was in my case, at least.
