No, God does not expect us to be “friends.”

The righteous choose their friends carefully,
but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

-Proverbs 12:26, NIV

The beauty of friendship is that we get to CHOOSE who we have as friends!

I encourage you to choose friends who behave like friends. And I encourage you to jettison those who refuse to choose between you and your adulterous abuser. That is NOT friend behavior.

Pro-Tip:

Cheaters who are not sorry for harming you are not behaving like friends.

They do not make the cut either.

Christians who attempt to shame and manipulate you on that number are also NOT friend material. God does not require us to be friends with people who will actively abuse us. We can forgive and keep our distance.

In fact, I would encourage you to keep your distance from your Cheater when they stuck in blaming you for their abuse of you.

Choose your friends wisely. They have a BIG impact on your quality of life and what path you ultimately take spiritually.

Good friends are those that believe in you and push you to greater things! They are balm and worth their weight in gold. Don’t settle for fool’s gold friends.
