Sometimes the wife is the cheating abandoner

She [the adulteress] gives no thought to the way of life;
    her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it.

-Proverbs 5:6, NIV

Sometimes, the wife decides she would rather live life as a single person.

What makes this especially painful for those of us left behind is how shame is compounded to this deep wound. Society seems to have a category or trope for men who leave and cheat. This is not so much the case for women who do this.

However, these women exist.

Sadly, the abandoning cheater is not restricted to just men. Women can behave in this way as well.

This came to mind recently as I was listening to a popular country song. It is about how cowboys aren’t the only ones who leave. I thought it was a good reminder to us to see faithful husbands who have been left as well.

Here’s the song–“Ain’t Always the Cowboy” by Jon Pardi:

  1. Thank you. This happened to me; I wrote you in June 2019 and you talked about my story (Dear DM, my wife said she deserves to be happy).

    November 2nd is the 2 year anniversary of her leaving, and the 1 year anniversary of the divorce is December 26th.

    This time of year is painful and I’ve been depressed lately thinking about it. I don’t know if my life will ever be the same, but I’ve been putting my focus on my sons, whom I have full custody of. They were and still are hurt and angry about how she left her family and have very little contact with her.

    1. It won’t be the same. But that does not mean it will be bad. In fact, I believe it can be much better than ever for you, brother! One year out is still fresh. So, be patient with yourself and your heart.

    2. I share with you my reality I hope help you or any believer that is looking for the God´s will. She divorced 1 year ago because I found evidence/picture of her cheating, she asked me pardon a lot of time but never leave her sin. Now I have 4 kids depending of me 6,7,10 and 11 years old, 3 boys and 1 girl. The last time she asked to kids pardon promessing never going to leave them, 48 hours she changes her position and only say good bye . I invite to my kids to pray for her, and asked them to love her mom any way. I share with them all the nights the holy word of God and they are really in good condition, never going to accept this decision of her mother but trust in God´s will. I am focus in the Lord and my kids. They need my support and love. God is in control any way of our lives and special plan that today we cannot see but in the future we will see.
      God Bless You
      Juan Carlos
