NOT Saying Something Is Actually Sin!

“Do not stand idly by when your neighbor’s life is threatened.”

-Leviticus 19:16b, NLT

Too many books and articles I see on infidelity tell outsiders to keep the secrets of infidelity to themselves. Cluing in the faithful spouse seems to be treated worse than the actual infidelity offenses themselves.

Yet Scripture is clear what we are to do when faced with such a dastardly secret:

We are to tell the faithful spouse!

This verse from Leviticus makes that abundantly clear. A faithful spouse’s life is potentially in danger when cheater commits adultery secretly. It really IS that serious!!!

To not tell a faithful spouse about the infidelity is like a bystander watching idly as the faithful spouse’s very life is put at risk!

This is NOT noble behavior. It is wickedness.

The cheating needs to be exposed. Then it is upon the faithful spouse to choose what to do with that information. That choice is not for you to make for him or her.

They deserve to know as it is their life at risk!

To withhold the information is therefore sinful. It is collusion with the lies and deceit of the cheater.

Don’t be that person.

A godly person tells even if the faithful spouse does not receive it well. Telling is still the right thing to do!
