Trust God, Fear NOT “Man”

Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

-Proverbs 29:25, NIV

If God is for us,who can be against us?

-Romans 8:31b, NIV

Trust God, Fear NOT “Man!”

My anxiety often escalates when I start concerning myself with the opinions of “man” over what I know is God’s verdict on my life. Fear of man is truly a snare.

People–sadly, many Christians included–may condemn you for divorcing a cheater. But if you have peace from God, who cares what they think?

The power humans have over our life is a function of what God allows them. They may think they are in charge. They aren’t. God is.

God is Sovereign.

That said, I understand that many of us wonder why God allowed certain humans harm us so. That’s a mystery.

I suspect the answer lies somewhere in the midst of the paradox that is free human will and God’s sovereign will. Both exist. And I dare not venture an answer how they coexist together.

My encouragement to those struggling with fear of “man” issues is to turn this Proverb into a prayer asking for grace to trust God. I know praying this verse has helped me in the past.

Even though it may not feel like it in the moment, trusting God is worth it. That is the path to true freedom from fear!
