Damaged but NOT Damaged Goods!

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

-2 Corinthians 4:8-9, NIV

An amazing thing about Christianity is how God takes us as damaged creatures and transforms us into beautiful vessels for His glory.

It isn’t disqualifying to have had a rough experience in this life. One could even say such experience qualifies a Christian to be an even better carrier of the Lord and His light to the world!

We, faithful spouses, are damaged.

The cheating and lying did considerable damage to us. The cheater hurt our abilities trust. The cheater hurt our hearts. The cheater may have even passed along a physical disease from their sexual sins.

This does not mean we are “damaged goods.”

Rather, it means we have lived a life, a tough one. It means we have fire-tested character. That is truly valuable.

We may have sustained some damage in the process but we are valuable and far from “damaged goods!”
