A friend behaves like a friend.

I know this sounds straight forward, but we need to hear it sometimes when tempted to make excuses for some people. Just because someone claims the title “friend” for themselves does not make so.

They need to follow that title up with behavior.

Do they listen to you? When they hurt you, do they try to repair the relationship admitting fault? How are they in being loyal to you around others?

Friends can be real gifts doing this difficult time of infidelity discovery. They are life-lines.

That said, some people we once called “friends” won’t make the “cut” as far as demonstrating friend behavior. The sooner you cut those people loose, the better.
