What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.
-Matthew 10:29, NLT
God cares for all of His creation.
We are far more capable than the birds of the air. Yet God figures out how to care for them as well. That includes the birds we have raised as pets that are extremely dependent upon us.
Mrs. DM got me hooked on caring for rescue parrots years ago with the first batch of rescue parrots pictured above. They are Green Cheek Conures. Today, our flock has grown to five rescues.
In fact, I write this post as one sits on my shoulder, Loki, and another, Munkee Bird (an African Grey Parrot), sits on the table next to my computer “supervising” me.
These rescue birds are reminders that God cares for us. We need not worry about our future. He knows are needs and cares for ALL of His creatures.
Plus, rescues give more than they take. They joy these rescues have given our home can not be measured with money. Each one has its own idiosyncrasies that make them so loveable and infuriating!
I am grateful that I can be their special human for these creatures. And I am grateful for the spiritual lesson of God’s care for me that they teach me by being themselves.
