I am a sucker for getting pets.
We got another parrot shortly after our wedding anniversary. That brings our “flock” to three.* The latest is a talkative Jardine parrot. He is very beautiful and funny when he talks. An example is when he says, “Ooops” if his claws slip while walking on the newspaper. And probably my favorite thing is his laugh that is appropriately timed for my jokes or the TV show’s laugh reel. It so awesome!
I love the love of pets.
They are so transparent in their like and dislikes. As I have heard some say,
“They are true to their natures.”
Their love is such a gift. And I am grateful for three new creatures in our lives who are generous in their love for us.
How about you?
Do you have a feathered or furry friend who gives you love and acceptance?

*We now have five parrots in our flock including a “new” African Grey who follows us around like a puppy. Loki, the Jardine, is my special buddy. Mrs. DM says he starts whistling and gets excited when he knows I am about to come home. In fact, he jumps me as soon as I get into the entry way. Loki really is a dog with wings. I love my pumpkin head (parrot with orange feathers on his head)!

Pets are amazing.
I lost my sweet Chiweenie dog last October, just three weeks after my sweet husband of 30 years passed. My dog was an aging dog who had some issues, but he was undergoing treatment and doing fairly well. When my H died, he started having seizures, night terrors/screaming, and then couldn’t keep his food down. I had to make the horrible choice of putting him down, as the vet recommended. I think the emotional toll of losing his best bud was just too much for him.
I am so glad he was able to hang on as long as he did. I think he was a large part of helping my husband have a good quality of life. He was always by my H’s side. I keep a picture of them together hanging right above my desk.
