Shallow people

“This is the way of an adulterous woman:
She eats and wipes her mouth
and says, ‘I’ve done nothing wrong.’”

-Proverbs 30:20, NIV

This verse could easily be said of cheating men as well.

They all have a shallow understanding of “love.” The marriage relationship is turned into an exchange rather than a commitment. So, what happens when their affair partner decides they are worth more…

Faithful spouses are deep people in my experience.

They do not give up easily (sometimes to their detriment). These are the people who value their words and vows. That is one of the reasons the adultery (and divorce) hurts so much.

They understand marriage ought not to be discarded. Yet they also understand they cannot keep a relationship just from their end of it (see I Cor 7:15).

In some ways, I pity cheaters. They are enjoying the sugar-high of sin. But that is not life-sustaining nourishment. At some point, the sugar crash is coming.
