The proper biblical label of adultery is “evil!”

“If a man is discovered committing adultery, both he and the woman must die. In this way, you will purge Israel of such evil.”

-Deuteronomy 22:22, NLT

What Christians need to understand is that adultery is truly evil!

This is not “second fiddle” to divorce. Adultery is the main event in the evil performance.

This sin comes with a nasty net of wickedness including lies, contempt, pride, and theft to name a few.

How many pastors or counselors ever…

…had to go to the doctor to be tested for STDs because they just discovered their spouse had been cheating on them?

…had to paternity tested their children because they weren’t sure those kids were theirs by blood?

…discovered not only the spouse was cheating but also stealing tens of thousands of dollars (or more) from the retirement and savings accounts?

…had a whole legal system weaponized against them in order to take the children away from the one parent who was their primary caregiver until the cheater suddenly decided NOW they wanted the kids?

…had spent nearly every night in panic wondering what the other partner was doing/did and weeks throwing up from the trauma of being abandoned and cheated on?

But sure, let’s waste our time blaming faithful spouses for the marriage dissolving… Clearly, they aren’t dealing with enough of the fall out from their spouse’s sins [sarcasm].

These are just a few examples of the gross injustices faithful spouses suffer all the time! Adultery is truly evil. God was not kidding when He labelled it as such.

And noticed God never called divorce evil…just a thought.

Let’s start taking adultery seriously. God called it evil for good reason!
