Hated Scripture

Judah has been unfaithful. A detestable thing has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem: Judah has desecrated the sanctuary the Lord loves by marrying women who worship a foreign god.

-Malachi 2:11, NIV

My (now) ex-wife hated this passage from Scripture.

Looking back, I can see that was a neon sign about her cheating. She did not want to face the harsh mirror showing her that what she was doing was extremely wrong, sinful.

Scripture has a way of exposing our hearts and sins.

A cheater may rage against that mirror. That just reveals that they are having an internal fight. They know what they are doing is wrong, but they do not want to repent, clearly. Instead, they want the reminder that they are in the wrong to go away.

Exposing sin is a kindness.

Sadly, cheaters do not usually take this as kindness. They fail to seize the opportunity to repent. So, it just makes them feel bad, and they conflate that as meaning it is bad since their feelings are all that matter to them.

It is sad.

They should love, not hate Scripture. Guess that tells us to what Kingdom they belong.
