Some People Just Prefer Looking “High-Minded” and “Neutral”

“The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who in time of moral crisis preserve their neutrality.”

-John F. Kennedy (attributed wrongly to Dante)

Considering all the people who love neutrality in the face of adultery discovery, this part of Hell must be rather crowded by now. Ha.

Half-joking.

Discovering adultery is certainly a discovery of a moral crisis in that marriage. It should go without saying that it is maddening to the adultery victim to be faced with people seeking “neutrality” in the face of such evil.

Neutrality communicates an unwillingness to care in truth about the victim or God’s commitment that His people live righteous, holy lives.

Yet some people just love their “high minded” and “neutral” position. They say things like:

“I don’t want to have to pick sides.”

“I want to remain friends with you both.”

“There’s always two sides to a story.”

Such an individual might pat themselves on the back for being such a “wonderful” person, but they will discover at some point their stance does not amuse God.

He is not neutral on matters of adultery!
