Self-serving Scruples

This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them!

-Luke 15:2, NLT

Funny how cheaters and their apologists will appeal to “Christian” ideals when it serves them.

As soon as you point out their need to repent, they try to change the subject or start calling you names. They claim such a request is a demand and you’re abusive for suggesting such a thing. Their religious scruples are decidedly selfish and self-serving.

The person apologists are defending is a lying cheater…

…but YOU are the “bad” Christian in all of this!

One of the biggest gifts of my experience with my cheater and her apologists was growing up towards recognizing religious manipulators. I am no longer naïve about these sort of people. Their manipulations have lost their power as I have learned to ignore their opinions or otherwise see them as they are.

If they want to call me a “bad” Christian, I am fine with that. I would hate to be a “good” Christian according to their clearly compromised standards!
