24 It will keep you from the immoral woman,
from the smooth tongue of a promiscuous woman.
25 Don’t lust for her beauty.
Don’t let her coy glances seduce you.-Proverbs 6:24-25, NLT
We had opportunity, too!
That is the thing about people with character. They do NOT give into temptation. Their vows means something to them.
We did not take a cold bedroom as an excuse to “get it” somewhere else.
We did not take difficult communications as an excuse to find another romantic partner who “understood us.”
“Forsaking all others” means just that to those of us who remained faithful. We did not make excuses to harm our spouse and kill the marriage.
And I would emphasize that this did not just happen because we lacked opportunity! We chose not to give into said “opportunities.”
The difference between cheaters and faithful spouse is character, not circumstances. One chooses to cheat when they want something different, and the other does not treat that as an option based on their own integrity.
