But a man who commits adultery has no sense;
whoever does so destroys himself.-Proverbs 6:32, NIV
An escape from reality
Cheaters are people who choose a fantasy over reality. They pursue and develop deceitful relationships. Like anything built on lies, this escape is not to a good place.
This is another reason faithful spouses cannot compete with this situation.
As long as the cheater is captivated by the lies of this “escape,” the faithful spouse stands no chance. Repentance is not in the cards.
What is most likely is the cheater will tear down the faithful spouse. They will make unfair comparisons to their fantasy life. This adds to the trauma of the cheating for the faithful spouse.
Cheaters need someone who will give them a sober dose of reality.
They need someone to tell them the truth about how their behavior makes them the bad person in this scenario. Someone needs to tell them their affair is a fantasy built on lies. Nothing excuses such behavior.
